Meet Dawn and Lauren

Why I Serve.  Dawn Is the Continuation,
Dawn is not the beginning,
she is the continuation.
Not of a religious past,
not of traditions handed down,
but of a life God Himself touched.
She knows God is real
because He met her in places
where no one else could reach her.
He pulled her out of storms
she never told the world about,
held her together
when she quietly fell apart,
and saved a wretch like her;
the way only God can.
Her faith was not inherited,
it was discovered.
Built moment by moment,
prayer by prayer,
mercy by mercy.
God walked her through battles
not meant to be survived,
yet here she is;
not perfect,
but protected,
not flawless,
but forgiven.
He gave her vision,
purpose,
and a heart that refuses to quit.
He made her a vessel:
for youth,
for healing,
for community,
for change.
And when Dawn plants seeds,
it isn’t just her;
God is in the soil,
God is in the sunlight,
God is in the harvest.
She is not the beginning;
she is what happens
when God decides
the story is not over.
A continuation of grace,
of survival,
of transformation,
of purpose written
by a God who never left her side.
And every garden she grows,
every life she touches,
every soul she lifts
is living proof:
God is real.
God is present.
And God is not finished with her yet.

Lauren Wilkerson is the president of A New Dawn Incorporated and a registered nurse at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, specializing in the pediatric intensive care unit. She also teaches health, wellness, and nutrition at A New Dawn Incorporated, including a canning and jarring course.

Lauren aspires to purchase a large greenhouse to grow various fruits, vegetables, and medicinal herbs. Among the crops she envisions cultivating are luffa, which can be harvested for use as natural sponges, along with a variety of herbs such as basil, mint, and chamomile for culinary and medicinal purposes. She plans to grow nutritious vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and leafy greens to support local food security and healthy eating.

The produce from the greenhouse will not only contribute to community health but will also be incorporated into her courses on canning and jarring, teaching participants how to preserve these foods for long-term use. This initiative aims to enhance food literacy and self-sufficiency within the community while promoting the benefits of growing and consuming fresh, locally sourced food.
